She's a first-generation Australian of Portuguese, Malay, Goan, Irish, English and French ancestry, and her career has been no less eclectic. She has been a teacher in remote communities in Western Australia, manager of an Aboriginal arts centre at Fitzroy Crossing, a radio and television producer for Kimberley ABC, based in Broome, and, more recently, an administrator, property manager and interior designer.
