AWMN Corporate Membership

Employees from companies may join the Australian Women's Mentoring Network and engage in self-managed mentoring, discussions, online training, discounted professional development events and OMG's (online mentoring groups) with the other members of the network.

Presently, the AWMN network includes over 1500 women (as well as some male mentors) from all over Australia, from many varied and diverse professional and personal backgrounds.  Recommended for companies who are geographically dispersed and have less than 500 participants, this is an excellent way of offering mentoring opportunities en masse for your female employees, to engage either with the wider community, or find mentors within the company.

A Corporate Mentoring Membership can easily be integrated into and effectively enhance a company-based mentoring program.

Dedicated Virtual Mentoring

The Australian Women's Mentoring Network can provide you with your own company-specific virtual mentoring network.  This is a customised online mentoring network which works the same way as the AWMN but is based on criteria that is both important and relevant to your organisation and the people in it, both male and female.  This type of network is recommended for geographically disperse companies with over 500 participants.

Finding a mentor through a dedicated virtual mentoring network is a self-service process, so your staff can connect with each other as mentors or mentees, online any time of the day or night.  Because of this a number of distinct advantages are created for you and your staff:

  • They get to choose the mentor they want and feel is the right person for them;
  • They decide on their own mentoring parameters (when, where, how, duration, etc.)
  • They commence their mentoring partnership whenever they and their mentor are ready – they are not locked into any formal mentoring agreements or programs which have set commencement and end dates.
  • They can change their mind if they decide it's not working out for them, and choose another mentor;
  • They can browse through all the mentor profiles online 24/7, which may inspire them to think of ideas and goals that they may otherwise not have considered before;
  • They learn and develop valuable skills and experience through managing their own mentoring process, either as the mentor or the mentee
  • There are no limits on the number of mentors and mentees that join, unlike traditional mentoring programs.  In fact, the more people who join a virtual mentoring network the better the network becomes, as every new member adds to the wealth of experience, diversity and generosity that exists within the network!
  • The network can be supplemented with traditional mentoring programs, staff development offerings, training and other resources.

Success & Acclaim

"I thought you might like to know I found a wonderful mentor through AWMN. Your mentor bank was very easy to search and I had a quick reply from my first choice. She has a huge amount of experience in the APS, where I hope to work. My mentor advised me on addressing the selection criteria, and I was contacted for an interview on only my second application! She even met me when I arrived in Canberra for the interview, and made space in her long day to go through my preparation with me. I was amazed how easy AWMN made it for me to find a very secure and generous contact in my future workplace."
