5 Steps to Boost Your Business Print E-mail

Hally Rhiannon-Nammu

A new year is upon us and it is a perfect opportunity to reflect and review where the business is. Have the projections been met and/or exceeded or perhaps, you have found there are lingering limitations that are preventing you from the success you know you should be experiencing right now.

We all have certain strengths and attributes that we bring to the table when running our businesses. On the flip side there will be aspects that are not as prominent and will be determined a weakness. This will affect the core objective(s) of the business as well as the process to achieve success along the way.

There is the option where we can always employ staff that have these attributes, or alternatively, we can turn these weaknesses into strengths by making them work for us, rather than against us.

Yes, this is all very possible.

The reason is that often these apparent weaknesses will be hindering the business because they play on our conscious minds. It is that sensation of something being there, like a barrier, where clarity on moving forward becomes difficult. As a result we can fuel the belief in this weakness and find ourselves creating excuses, better named 'reasons', procrastinate and consequently omit areas that are fundamental to the business; such terms as "I will get to that later" and finding yourself doing the things you like to do rather than have to do become the 'norm'.

The cost becomes evident as the months begin to unfold and the revenue projections are not reached, the bills become overwhelming and the customers become scarce.

This is daunting and unfortunately more common than not.

Are you ready to step up and make your weakness accountable for positive results?

The Steps:

  1. Make a list of the attributes you believe are, can or will hinder the success of your business.

  2. What of this is list is based on? Is a set of beliefs, negative self-talk, asking others to make decisions that you should be making or creating the habit of procrastination? Take those that are internal or relating to you.

  3. Make a list of at least 3 points of what you need to believe to change your weaknesses into strengths.

  4. What does this mean to you to make your business succeed?

  5. You are now ready to create a plan to integrate your new belief(s) into your mindset when working on or in the business.

For those hindering elements that consist of skills, knowledge or training incorporate this into your goals and objectives. Learning is not a point of weakness or limitation, rather an opportunity expand networks and further your branding through you.

Gaining clarity into our internal beliefs and how this affects the way we run our business can determine how far we will take our business and ultimately the level of accomplishment we can experience.

There are no limitations to success. This is only ever determined by you. When you believe that your weakness is a strength working for you, like a dedicated employee, only one thing can result – inevitable success.
