| Creating Opportunities |

Many of us look for ways to find opportunities to build our business and ultimately our quality of life. There is such an abundance of information available through a number of mediums from webinars, seminars, teleconferences, networking events which come to us through newsletters, e-newsletters, facebook updates, twitter links and blogs that we may have subscribed to. In this expanse of information we walk away feeling enlightened for a short period but no closer to building our business or changing the quality of our lives. This becomes disheartening so we continue on this wheel of information gathering. We see our competitors taking this tact and it is working for them, so it has to work for us, doesn't it? This occurs for one very important reason... no matter what you learn, see or do, creating opportunities must and can only come from you. There is another layer to consider in this... I am a strong advocate of training and study however, knowledge alone is only knowledge. Action without forethought is reaction. Put the two together and you have a formula to assist in creating real and unlimited opportunities. A saying comes to mind "build it and they will come". Your business is the same. It is being able to identify a key need of your chosen target market and maximising on this. It is as simple as supply and demand. You may find a demand in an area however; your niche is formed firstly from your own personal attributes that you bring to your business. To take this even further – you can have two businesses in the same industry that are the same size with the same methodologies and yet one will be more successful than the other. Why? I have lost count the amount of times I have had someone ask me "what did you do to get clients?" I could tell you however, what worked for me may not work for you. Does this mean that it is a bad strategy or merely one that isn't right for you? In moving your business from A to B it is not about following someone else's methodologies. It is taking the essence of the methodology and making it your own; because only then will it fit you, your business model and your ultimate objective. The key in creating opportunities in your business is to ask the question "Am I fulfilling my clients' needs my way". The rest will take care of itself.
